ƒ^ƒCƒgƒ‹i‰pjF SHAKING TABLE TESTS ON SEISMIC BEHAVIOR OF ISOLATORS FOR HOUSES
´˜^i‰pjF Base isolation is very effective on keeping safety during earthquakes. In case of houses, it is difficult to elongate enough period of buildings by laminated rubber bearing isolators because of light weight. In addition to rubber bearings, sliding and rolling devices are needed to be developed or applied. In this paper, mechanical characteristics of various kinds of isolators and effects on response of houses are discussed. Shaking table tests of base isolated house models were carried out. Though the effect of isolators on the response of houses during earthquake is demonstrated, the response is dependent on the mechanical characteristics of isolators.
