A precise static loading test of a reinforced concrete shear wall, having an I shaped section and a low aspect ratio, was conducted to investigate the fundamental characteristics such as restoring force relationship and equivalent viscous damping ratio in a weak plastic range. Following conclusions are obtained : (1) it is important to measure a strain of reinforcing bars and displacement aground the bottom of flange wall to evaluate the flexure displacement precisely, (2) an equivalent viscous damping is very small, which is 0.5% on a flexure deformation and 1.5% on a shear deformation, (3) when the effect of an inverse bending caused by a thick loading slab is large, the evaluation of the accuracy of measured flexure displacement is important.
