ƒ^ƒCƒgƒ‹i‰pjF SEISMIC RESPONSE OF THE HIGASHI-KOBE BRIDGE DURING THE 1995 HYOGOKEN-NANBU EARTHQUAKE
´˜^i‰pjF The dynamic behavior of a long span cable-stayed bridge is investigated. The MSC/NASTRAN finite element program is used to develop the models of the Higashi-Kobe Bridge. The response of the structure is examined by comparing the mode shapes of the bridge. It has been found that the dynamic behavior of the bridge is influenced by the boundary conditions. The seismic response of the bridge during a small earthquake is simulated. Good agreement has been found between the recorded and calculated responses of the bridge. In addition, the non-linear response of the bridge during the 1995 Hyogoken-Nanbu earthquake is investigated.
