ƒ^ƒCƒgƒ‹i‰pjF ANALYTICAL INVESTIGATION OF GROUND MOTIONS DIRECTIONALITY FOCUSED ON IRREGULAR UNDERGROUND STRUCTURE
´˜^i‰pjF Ground motions directionality focused on irregular underground structure is investigated. During The 1994 Sanriku Haruka Oki Earthquake, the amplification from Hachinohe JMA (JMA) located on rock site to Hachinohe City Hall (HCH) located at sediment site showed strong directionality, especially the NS component (HCH) was largely amplified at around 1 Hz compared to EW one. The authors perform wave propagation analyses to explain the phenomena. The spatial variations and ground motions directionality due to irregular underground structure are discussed. The analytical results show that this amplification is due to the constructive interference of basin-induced surface waves (Love) and body waves (SH-wave) including refracted waves.
