ƒ^ƒCƒgƒ‹i‰pjF VARIOUS FEATURES OF STRONG GROUND MOTIONS DURING THE 1995 HYOGOKEN NANBU EARTHQUAKE
´˜^i‰pjF We investigate on the characteristics of earthquake ground motions during the 1995 Hyogo-Ken Nanbu earthquake ; the variation of peak accelerations (PGA) and velocities (PGV) with the focal distance, the effects of site conditions, the PGA distribution in the area around Kobe and seismic hazard aspect at Kobe. From these studies, it is found that the attenuation manner of PGAs and PGVs with distance can be roughly estimated by the author's formulae, the site effects such as topography and soil nonlinearlity can be analytically expressed, based on the wave synthesis the higher PGAs spread the northeast from the fault, and then the occurrence of an earthquake with the identical intensity due to the Hyogo-Ken Nanbu is inferred over the return period of 2500years.
