´˜^i‰pjF To mitigate regional physical damage due to earthquakes, appropriate methods to evaluate seismic performance of buildings and awareness of earthquake risks are indispensable. The authors conducted a questionnaire survey about houses to residents and evaluate the seismic performance of wooden buildings in Setagaya ward, Tokyo. This paper presents comparison of seismic evaluation results by three methods (seismic evaluation, seismic evaluation based on questionnaire survey, and detailed seismic evaluation). How to use these present methods for the earthquake insurance in Japan is also discussed.
