ƒ^ƒCƒgƒ‹i‰pjF EVALUATION OF SEISMIC PERFORMANCE BY THE SEISMIC SCREENING METHOD AND ITS VERIFICATION BY DYNAMIC RESPONSE ANALYSIS ON A STANDARD SCHOOL BUILDING IN THE PHILIPPINES
´˜^i‰pjF Seismic index indicating the seismic performance of building is evaluated. The evaluated performance is verified directly by dynamic response analysis. Correlation of the evaluated seismic index with the intensity of ground motion with which the responses reach the critical deflection is examined. Two sets of analyses are carried out. One is focused on the correlation between the second level index and responses of the mass-spring-dashpot model, and the other between the third level index and responses of a frame model. In the analysis, a R/C school building in the Philippines is employed. Discussed are the responses of the building during strong ground motions in correlation with the index obtained from the seismic evaluation. Recommendations are summarized to mitigate seismic vulnerability of the building.
