ƒ^ƒCƒgƒ‹i‰pjF BEHAVIOR OF THE 23RD BUILDING (BASE-ISOLATED) OF KANAGAWA UNIVERSITY DURING EARTHQUAKE
´˜^i‰pjF The newly built RC building in campus of Kanagawa University in March, 2001 has gLh shaped plan type with eight ground floors, two penthouse floors and two basement floors. This building has been installed seismically isolation system constituted by three type devices which are multi-layered elastic isolator, steel rod damper and lead damper. Inside and outside of this RC building, 7 seismometers with three components were installed and the strong motion observation was started from April, 2001 and 16 earthquake strong motions were recorded by this vertical array observation system up to December, 2001 during eight months. In his paper, we would like to present the dynamic behavior of base isolated RC building using the observed strong motion records and the results of computer simulation analysis. Also we would like to show the result of comparison of dynamic characteristics obtained from the structural design, vibration test and strong motion records.
