ƒ^ƒCƒgƒ‹i‰pjF A METHODOLOGY PROPOSED FOR SAFETY ASSESSMENT OF RUNNING VEHICLE IN SEISIMIC DESIGN OF RAILWAY STRUCTURES
´˜^i‰pjF After important lessons taken from several intense earthquakes in recent years, the interest in the performance-based seismic design for structures is glowing. One of the earthquake-induced demands on railway structures is the safety of running vehicles during an earthquake. How to assess the safety performance of running vehicle is a special and important task in seismic design of railway structures. This paper examines the behaviour of running railway vehicles under seismic loading using a simplified analytical model, and proposes a code-type provision, which is based on Spectral Intensity (SI), for safety assessment of running vehicles subjected to earthquake motions. Moreover the proposed provision has been testified and applied firstly to practical design.
