| 抄録(英): | This paper presents an analytical study on maximum story drifts of steel moment frames subjected to near-fault ground motions. Many near-fault ground motions recorded from U.S. Northridge, Kobe, and Taiwan's Chi-Chi Earthquakes were used to this end. Column-to-beam strength ratios required for ensuring beam-collapse mechanism was also noted. It was found that maximum story drifts tend to be larger for near-fault ground motions relative to conventionally considered motions even when the motions are scaled. Column-to-beam strength ratios become greater with the increase of earthquake intensities. A procedure to estimate the maximum story drifts using the first- and second-mode responses was proposed. The procedure was found to be accurate for short structures but fail to estimate the maximum story drifts for tall structures. |
