The correlations between the damage of a building and eight indexes of the intensity of the strong ground motions are examined by using a SDOF structural model with the bilinear restorning hysteresis model and seventy three strong ground motion records. The maximum pulse value of a ground motion shows the high correlation to the damage for the wide range of the natural period form 0.1 second to 1.0 second.
