Shaking table tests were conducted to clarify the characteristics of a lateral displacement and a settlement on a friction pile in liquefied soil. The following conclusions were drawn: 1) The settlement of a pile foundation is smaller than that of a spread foundation. 2) The relative settlement between foundation and soil near-by foundation on a spread foundation is two times as large as that on a pile foundation. 3) The settlement of foundation is in proportion to lateral displacement of ground surface independent of pile number, spacing and structure weight.
