タイトル(英): A COMPARISON BETWEEN WAVE LENGTH OF SURFACE WAVES BASED ON ELASTO-DYNAMICS AND APPARENT WAVE LENGTH USED IN ENGINEERING PRACTICE
抄録(英): Two methods have been used to determine apparent seismic wave length for the design of under ground structures, namely, the harmonic-mean methodand the gas-standard method. These methods give different wave length for the same soil profile. For the purpose of providing a theoretical viewpoint of the methods, the wave lengths given by the methods are compared with the wave lengths of surface waves for several layered half-space models. As a result of the comparison, it could be pointed out that the two methods do not necessarily capture some of the features of surface waves appropriately.
