抄録(英): When stratified sand deposit liquefies, pore water goes up relative to sand particles. If water is caught under sublayers of low permeability, water films with no shear resistance are formed and the upper sublayers flow along them. This effect may have significant influences on flow mechanism during and after earthquakes. In this research, the flow mechanism involving water film is investigated by a soil element test using a hollow cylindrical torsional shear apparatus. Cyclic and monotonic loading tests are performed considering the water film generation in a sand sublayer underlying a low-permeable silt seam with and without an initial shear stress representing the effect of a sloping ground and their results are discussed.
