We here simulate earthquake ground motion in the 2000 Tottori-ken Seibu earthquake by using 3D finite difference method taking into account a irregular bedrock structure. The bedrock structure around Yumigahama Peninsula is modeled by gravity anomaly data and bedrock depth information from some reference sites. A 3D finite difference model including earthquake fault is constructedaccording to the estimated underground structure. The target area of the analysis is a weatern part of Tottori Prefecture. The calculation is done by adopting non-uniform grids of 360 × 310 × 80. The simulated waves capture the characteristics of the observed records. Irregular shaped bedrock may be one of the reasons for the concentrarted damage to dwellings in the north part of Yumigahama Peninsula.
