タイトル(英): EARTHQUAKE RESPONSE CHARACTERISTICS OF ALLUVIAL PLAIN DURING THE 2001 GEIYO EARTHQUAKE
抄録(英): The 2001 Geiyo Earthquake brought about severe damages over the wide area of Chugoku and Shikoku districts in Japan. Most of the cities in this area are located on the alluvial fans at the mouths of the rivers, and the soil conditions rapidly change from the beginning to the ending of the alluvial fans. The soil condition of Hiro zone, Kure City is a typical case, and the soil exhibits the heavy irregularity in narrow area. The damage levels of the roofs in Hiro are quite changed according to the locations, this damage level changing results from the differences in the amplification of the earthquake motion due to the irregularity. The paper describes the influences of the soil irregularity on the amplification of the earthquake motion, which are investigated through the aftershock observations and 2D-FEM analyses.
