タイトル(英): CHARACTERISTICS OF SOURCE SPECTRA OF SMALL AND LARGE INTERMEDIATE DEPTH EARTHQUAKES IN HIDAKA-KUSHIRO REGION OF HOKKAIDO, JAPAN
抄録(英): Source spectra of intermediate depth earthquakes around Hokkaido were investigated. The analyzed events occurred at the lower seismic plane in the subducting slab beneath Hidaka-Kushiro region of Hokkaido dwith down dip extension (DE) type focal mechanism. Their magnitudes MJMA ranged from 5.1 to 7.8 and they included the 1987 Hidaka earthquake (MJMA7.0) and the 1993 Kushiro-oki earthquake(MJMA7.8). Source spectra of these events were estimated from observed strong motion records on the rock. We could find two corner frequencies on source spectra of the 1987 Hidaka earthquake and the 1993 Kushiro-oki earthquake, while the other small events had one corner frequency on their source spectra. A lot of high frequency components of ground motions by large DE type earthquakes were not only due to the high average stress drop over the fault plane but also due to the second corner frequency of source spectrum which was caused by smaller scale fault heterogeneities.
