ƒ^ƒCƒgƒ‹i‰pjF CONSTRUCTION OF SOURCE MODELS OF INTRA-SLAB EARTHQUAKES USING EMPIRICAL GREENfS FUNCTION METHOD
ด˜^i‰pjF We construct source models of four intra-slab earthquakes, the 1993 Kushiro-oki (Mw=7.6), the 1994 Hokkaido Toho-oki (Mw=8.2), the 2001 Geiyo (Mw=6.7) and the 2001 Shizuoka-ken Chubu (Mw=5.4) earthquake, from forward modeling using the empirical Greenfs function method. Each model consists of one or several rectangular-shaped asperities and we assume ground motions are generated only from the asperities. These models are enough to simulate observed strong motion records in the wide frequency band (0.3-10 Hz). The total areas of asperities for intra-slab earthquakes are obviously smaller than those for plate-boundary earthquakes. However it is not so clear that they are compatible with a self-similar scaling model.
