ƒ^ƒCƒgƒ‹i‰pjF GENERATION OF THE HIGH-FREQUENCY WAVE FOR THE 2001 GEIYO EARTHQUAKE
´˜^i‰pjF The relation between peak ground acceleration Amax and peak ground velocity Vmax of the 2001 Geiyo earthquake is compared with other earthquakes. The ratio of Amax to Vmax, A/V of intra-plate earthquakes including the Geiyo earthquake is from 10 to 40 and is two times larger than that of inter-plate and crustal earthquakes. High-frequency components of seismic waves during main and after shocks of the Geiyo earthquake are examined from their source spectra. The stress drop ƒÐ that is calculated from the high-frequency flat level of acceleration source spectra is from 10 to 40MPa. This is almost equal to the level of ƒÐ of the other intra-plate earthquakes and is higher than that of inter-plate earthquakes.
