In order to obtain a dense distribution map of seismic intensity during the 2001 Geiyo earthquake, questionnaire survey on seismic intensity by Ohta’s method was carried out in whole area of Chugoku and Shikoku regions. In this paper the accuracy and scatter of estimated seismic intensity of the questionnaire survey was studied. Regional seismic intensity is defined as the mean value of questionnaire intensities in specified region, and two kinds of regional seismic intensity defined as local intensity and municipal intensity were discussed. Local intensities agree well with instrumentally measured intensities.
