This paper describes a fuzzy optimal and adaptive control system and its digital simulations for S.D.O.F. system subjected to earthquake loading. Optimization is performed by means of maximizing decision, and structural identification is based on the selection principle of pseudoresonance. In the maximizing decision, membership functions of target responses (displacements ) and target control variables ( damping ratio ) are assumed, and calculations are performed by means of ■-level set method. In the real time structural identification a simple linear relationship between maximal absolute earthquake input and structural responses in a certain interval of time is derived from transitional pseudo-resonance.
