This paper shows that the residual displacements in bridges are decreased by increasing the post-elasfic stiffres of the hysterefic loop.Analyses were carried out using single degree of freedom structures of different periods.It is shown that the residual displacements of structures way be reduced significantly by increasing the postelastic stffress of the hysteesis loop.
