EFFECT OF SAMPLE DISTURBANCE ON THE IN-SITU LIQUEFACTION STRENGTH OF SATURATED SANDS
|
´˜^i‰pjF
The undisturbed sand samples were obtained both by in-situ freezing method(FS sample) and triple tube sampling method (TS sample) from four sites. The liquefaction strength of these samples was obtained by conducting undrained cyclic triaxial tests and was also discussed on the sample disturbance. Followings are concluded. (1)In case of natural sand deposits, the liquefaction strength of TS sample is about the same or lower than that of FS sample. However as for loose sand fill, the liquefaction strength of TS sample is larger than that of FS sample. (2)For the medium dense sand, in some cases, the liquefaction strength of TS sample is much lower than that of FS sample even though they have the same density. This result means that, other factors than the relative density, such as the changes in the micro-fabric and/or aging effect of the sample during sampling should be considered.
