The Research Group on Microtremor Joint Measurements was organized after the Kushiro-oki earthquake of January 15, 1993, to discuss ground motion characteristics in the Kushiro district (Hokkaido, Japan) with measured microtremors. The most significant point was to find the reason why very strong earthquake motions from 0.4g to 0.9g didn't cause a heavy damage on buildings and houses. The joint measurements were carried out in August, 1993, with collaboration of more than 100 participants. As the final results have not been obtained at this moment, some of fundamental characteristics on measured microtremors in the area will be pointed out based on our preliminary analyses. ƒL[ƒ[ƒhi‰pjF - ‹LŽ–‹æ•ªF - ‹æ•ª @@@ˆÏˆõ‰ï˜_•¶W
