Long period ground motions were observed near Akashi Kaikyo bridge. The first part of this research introduces the observation system of long-period, ground motions. Some of the observed records had a predominant period of 10 to 20 seconds, which is almost the same as the first natural period of Akashi Kaikyo bridge. And the latter part presents the estimated ground motions resulting from large future earthquakes at the site using the semi-empirical method. The synthesized wave using the source mechanism of a huge earthquake have displacement amplitude of more than 10 cm, however, the response spectra showed less than the design spectra of Akashi kaikyo bridge. ƒL[ƒ[ƒhi‰pjF - ‹LŽ–‹æ•ªF - ‹æ•ª @@@ˆÏˆõ‰ï˜_•¶W
