EVALUATION OF PIPELINE DAMAGES BY EARTHQUAKE
|
´˜^i‰pjF
The present paper proposes an evaluation method for pipeline damages by using average S wave velocity and liquefaction potential decided by S wave velocity in each layer ( an evaluation method of liquefaction potential was proposed in 1990 ) determined by Surface wave exploration. Average S wave velocity and liquefaction potential between ground surfa-ce boundary of liquefaction layer are calculated. Average S wave velocity iscalculated to use Root Mean Square (R.M.S.) equation. Liquefaction potential is decided by area enclosed with Vs¡Vscr which was proposed in 1990. It is evaluated that liquefaction potential is low in case of small area and high in case of large one. Evaluation of a drainpipe damage was carried out in Shohnan area in Noshiro city, Akita prefecture where was attacked by Nihonkai Chuubu Earthquake (1983.5.26,M=7.7). It was found that average S wave velocity was low and area was large in damaged area but average S wave velocity was high and area was small in non-damaged area. This method isuseful for evaluation of lifeline damages in the area where may be attacked by a big earthquake in the near future.
