VIBRATION CONTROL OF A SLENDER BUILDING WITH HYBRID MASS DAMPER USLNG AC-SERVOMOTOR

In order to improve habitability of tall/slender buildings during winds and earthquakes, a new hybrid mass damper (HMD) using AC-servomotor has been developed. This hybrid mass damper has been designed not only to get good performance of vibration control, but also to conpact the measures and to ease the maintenance. One of the characteristis of the HMD is to be able to convert active/passive mode using switching mechanism. In 1993, the HMD has been applied to a slender 9-story building in Tokyo, whose heigh/depth ratio is over 7 . In this paper, details of the HMD systems and analytical results of seismic responses are presented.
