The paper presents simulation results of an application of a variable damper for suppressing bridge vibrations during strong earthquakes. The variable damper is controlled by using fuzzy contol theory. The fuzzy control rules are proposed. The simulations show that the variable damper controlled by using these rules can contribute its damping effect significantly corresponding to various levels of seismic loading. Based on the simulations on the variable damper, a passive damper, which has equivalent damping effectiveness to the variable damper, is proposed also. キーワード(英): - 記事区分 - 区分    委員会論文集
