The authors have worked on the study and development of an Active Mass Damper system (AMD) since 1986, and we have come to the application stage of the system into actual buildings. In this report, we summarized the control effects of the AMD installed on the actual buildings, which are an 11 story office building in Tokyo and a 35 story office and hotel building in Osaka. The control effects, mainly under earthquakes, were described by comparing the responses with the AMD and those without the AMD in various points of view including the absorbed energy by AMD .
