An effective simple procedure is necessary to evaluate the ultimate reliability of the seismically-isolated bridge pier under a severe earthquake. In such condition, it seems that yielding of the seismic-isolation device and of the bridge pier interact with one another. In this paper, a simple procedure is proposed to evaluate interaction, and the value which is obtained by this procedure is compared with the result of the nonlinear time history analysis. It is confirmed that this procedure is effective, and that the accurate evaluation of the effect caused by yielding of the bridge pier is required.
