In order to estimate the response of base isolated building during earthquake, it is important to evaluate the dynamic characteristics of isolation device. This paper describes an effect of loading rate on mechanical characteristics of high damping rubber bearing(50tonf). In this study, horizontal and vertical tests are performed by using dynamic two-dimensional test equipment which is designed to evaluate the dynamic characteristics of isolation device under virtually frictionless conditions. In addition to these tests, effect of loading history is considered.
