This paper presents an analytical approach to the probability of seismic safetyseismic reliability-of structural systems based on stationary random process theory by taking into account all the factors affecting the seismic reliability. The major influential factors associated with excitations are considered in terms of probability distribution function. Numerieal examples are given to s.d.o.f. elastic and elasto-plastic structural systems subjected to non-white stationary earthquake random excitations. The seismic reliability is presented and discussed for Japapanese major city areas based on the seismic activity map with 50-year return period and the predominant period of earthquake random excitations.
