The Japan Atomic Energy Research Institute(JAERI) developed a procedure to calculate a functional failure probability of components under seismic earthquake motion. The capacities of control relays housed in electrical panels under seismic earthquake motion are estimated using a published data of vibration test for a malfunction limit acceleration of the relays. The functional failure probabilities of the control relays are calculated by JAERI's procedure using the capacities of control relays and their responses estimated by "Response factor method". This paper presents the calculation results of the functional failure probabilities of the control relays.
