We are observing earthquake ground motions and seismic response of building structures at the mouth of Muko River and at Kobe Port Island. Some earthquakes reported in this paper have very long epicentral distances and others occurred in Kinki districts. Seismic response characteristics of soil, piles and buildings are discussed, using distribution of maximum acceleration response and velocity response spectrum. The behavior of building structures, when a huge earthquake occurs in Nankai Trough, can be estimated from the seismic response characteristics of structures subjected to middle-scale earthquakes which often occur in Kii Peninsula. ƒL[ƒ[ƒhi‰pjF - ‹LŽ–‹æ•ªF - ‹æ•ª @@@ˆÏˆõ‰ï˜_•¶W
