DEVELOPMENT OF REAL-TIME HYBRID EXPERIMENTAL SYSTEM WITH ACTUATOR DELAY COMPENSATION

Hybrid experimental method, in which an actuator-excited vibration experiment and a response analysis with a computer are on-line combined and simultaneously conducted, is being developed as a new seismic experimental method for structural systems. It is necessary to conduct a hybrid experiment in real time so that the dynamic characteristics of the structure under experiment can be considered in the response calculation. In a real-time hybrid experiment, however, an actuator response delay is equivalent to a negative damping. To solve the problem, we proposed an actuator control compensation method which predicts the displacement to be realized by actuator past the actuator response delay time aud also modifies the parameters for prediction according to the vibration conditions aud developed a real-time hybrid experimental system by introducing the method.
