On-line test is a hybrid method which consists of loading tests of specimens and numerical simulations of earthquake response of the specimens, and it has been applied to various seismic experiments to investigate the dynamic behavior of structures. In ordinary on-line tests, the displacement of the specimen involves undershooting error which is one of displacement control errors caused by the loading control system. This paper describes the growth of undershoothig error and its effect based on the results of on-line tests on R/C frame structures. The improved loading control system is proposed to minimize the effect of displacement control errors.
