This paper presents an effort to develop a new type of pseudo dynamic testing system. The system consists of a quasi-static jack, a hydraulic pump activated by an inverter motor, a controller that controls the jack action, a PC that sends command signals to the controller, a PC that stores data and a PC that handles numerical computation in the pseudo dynamic test. These hardware devices are interconnected for information exchange, which enables us to perform the pseudo dynamic test. Validity and accuracy of the system in simulating earthquake response behavior is demonstrated by a pseudo dynamic test conducted for a SDOF system and a substructure pseudo dynamic test applied to a 1O story building model with hysteretic dampers. ƒL[ƒ[ƒhi‰pjF - ‹LŽ–‹æ•ªF - ‹æ•ª @@@ˆÏˆõ‰ï˜_•¶W
