DYNAMIC INTERACTION OF ADJACENT BUILDINGS SIMULATED BY MAN-EXCITED VIBRATION TESTS
|
´˜^i‰pjF
In situations where there are two adjacent buildings, the vibration of each influences the other. This paper discusses the effect of dynamic interaction estimated from man-excited vibration tests and earthquake observation studies performed on two adjacent structures. The two buildings under study were sixteen and eleven story steel frame reinforced concrete structures. The results indicate that vibration waves from each building are propagated from one to another through the sub soil. The conclusion drawn is that the effect of dynamic interaction between adjacent buildings is dependent upon tbe building's size and period characteristics of the input motions.
