抄録（英）：
Where the ground is not uniform, the strains in the underground structure due to nonuniformity of earthquake motion will be fairy great. Such increase of strain seems to cause great damage to underground structure. According to the vibration theory, it is expected that nonuniformity of ground motion produce great strains at the discontinuity of ground. In order to contribute to investigate the problem mentioned above, wave phenomena due to vertical discontinuity of grounds were investigated using model experiments. As results, difference of condition of discontinuity has great influence upon reflection and transmission of waves.
