The influence of porosity on hydrodynamic pressures during earthquakes is examined by developing combined finite element-thin layer method for solid-porous media-water system. Special elements are introduced so as to take into account accurately the conditions at boundaries between different media. It is found out that the hydrodynamic pressures on the permiable structures is influenced by the permeability coefficient, porosity and the inertial interaction ,and that the effects of inertial interaction become more pronounced when the frequency increases, and the permiability coefficints increases.
