A STUDY ON THE SEISMIC FORCE AND EARTHQUAKE ANALYSIS METHOD FOR UNDERGROUND BOX-TYPE STRUCTURES

 ´˜^i‰pjF
It is recommended in the design guideline that the seismic analysis of underground box-type structures should be carried out using the seismic deformation method. In this method, the analysis is simplified by considering the three dimensional problem with two independent 2-D analysis. However, the three dimensional response of the structure can not be fully explained by 2-D analysis. In this paper, it is demonstrated by 3-D FEM analysis of underground box-type structure that shear force along the soil-structure interface should be included in the seismic analysis. A comparision with 2-D analysis further revealed that shear stresses on the wall and along the wall-slab joints are important response characteristics that should be considered as well.
