抄録（英）：
The 1993 Kushiro-oki earthquake caused many structural failures induced by soil liquefaction and landslides in Kushiro city and the adjacent places. One of the most extensive damage was occurred in Kushiro port area. However, few damage was happened at some wharfs because gravel drains and/or sand compaction piles were constructed to mitigate liquefaction at the adjacent sites. The present paper deals with the effects of gravel drain system on mitigation of liquefaction-induced damage through site investigation conducted just after the earthquake and computer simulations.
