抄録(英):
A model of a structure with piles and diaphragm walls in a saturated sand layer is numerically analyzed using three-dimensional finite element, effective stress method. The effectiveness of the diaphragm walls in reducing soil liquefaction hazard is evaluated through comparative studies. The results of the analyses show that diaphragm walls reduce excess pore water pressures between piles and bending moment in piles. The response of the superstructure is, however, not much affected by the existence of diaphragm walls.
