During the 1993 Off-Kushiro Earthquake, the accelerogram with a peak acceleration of 711 gals was recorded on the ground surface at the Kushiro Local Meteorological Observatory. The response spectrum of this strong earthquake motion is predominant in the short period range as compared with the large strong motions which are used for the seismic design. The remarkable influence of surface geology on earthquake motions at this site was ascertained by the statistical and theoretical analyses, as one of the causes for the large earthquake motion. ƒL[ƒ[ƒhi‰pjF - ‹LŽ–‹æ•ªF - ‹æ•ª @@@ˆÏˆõ‰ï˜_•¶W
