In order to integrate a lot of knowledges related to earthquake response problem of soil-structure system, an object oriented approach is newly adopted and the framework to solve the problem is introduced. First, the problem is analyzed using object modeling technique (OMT). From this examination, it becomes clear that the problem is an aggregation of several system objects and has a hierarchical and inherited structure. Also the data flow among the operations and the change of the state are clarified.
