This paper presents the first feasibility study of detailed underground structure to a depth of the seismic basement, about 2 km, with the seismic reflection survey and the vertical seismic profiling in the Tokyo Metropolitan area. Clear reflecting horizons were identified at depths of 1000m, 1600m and 2000m, which were confirmed satisfactorily through data from both vertical seismic profiling and boring.
