INFLUNCE OF FROZEN GROUND UPON THE CHARACTERISTICS OF EARTHQUAKE MOTIONS OF THE SURFACE LAYER
|
´˜^i‰pjF
1993 Kushiro-Oki Earthquake was a damaging earthquake which occurred in the season of frozen ground in Hokkaido. Just after the earthquake we measured the characteristics of earthquake motions by micro-tremor measurement all over Kushiro City, and in the next summer we made second measurements at the same points. As the result of the two measurements, we have found that the frozen ground have a clear influence on the characteristics of earthquake motions of surface layer as follows: (1)predominant frequency hardly changes by the frozen ground, though exceptionally changes slightly higher and (2)amplification factor of ground movements is appreciably suppressed by the frozen ground.
