Since 1985, the authors have continued seismological array observation at three stations on granite rock(S wave velocity greater than 3000m/sec)at the Inada district of Kasama City in Ibaragi Prefecture to gain an understanding of the characteristics of earthquake motions on hard rock. This paper reports on the contents of this observation and the attenuation characteristics of peak acceleration and absolute acceleration response spectra derived from observed horizontal and vertical component accelerograms using two -stage least square method.
