In this paper, site amplification factors were deduced as a function of the period from 1 to 10 sec at several JMA (Japan Meteorological Agency) observatories by using many seismograms recorded by JMA 87 type accelerographs. The JMA 87 type accelerograph has more broad-band, wider dynamic range than the conventional JMA strong-motion seismographs have. The site amplification factors, in a view of pseudo velocity response spectra with 5% damping, have the following features; 1) The factors in the period of 2 to 4 sec show good agreement with those estimated from maximum displacements of the conventional JMA seismograms by Okada and Kagami (1978). 2) The factors depend more weakly on period than those by Mamula et al.
