抄録（英）：
The strain dependence of dynamic soil properties was investigated from the strong motion acccelerograms recorded by a vertical array. A Bayesian approach to nonlinear inversion was proved to be very useful to identify the variations of S-wave velocity and damping factor caused by the nonlineality of soil deposit. It was shown that the S-wave velocities of near-surface layers decrease during the Chibaken-Tohou-Oki earthquake of Dec.17, 1987 compared with those obtained from the earthquake records with lower PGA. The relations between soil properties and effective shear strain from array data were compared with those from the laboratory tests of soil samples.
